Smile proud
Both dental crowns and caps mean the same thing. If the tooth’s structure has been badly damaged by tooth decay, broken fillings, root canals, or clenching or grinding, a dental filling may not be enough. Most of the time, a dental crown is the only way to completely fix this tooth’s appearance and function. The good news is that when a dental crown is finished, it looks and feels just like a real tooth.
Caps & crowns all around
Crowns can be used to restore a single natural tooth, but they can also be used to support the ends of a dental bridge, cover dental implants, or cover a cracked tooth to stop it from getting worse. A crown may also be needed to make a tooth look like it did before it got stained or discolored. Crowns can be made of all porcelain, porcelain baked onto a metal base, or one of the many new ceramic materials that are now available.
